Clyde Forsythe, Dean Cornwall, and Ralph Holmes served as judges for the October, 1943 memberβs competitive exhibit. Ralph Holmes served as president of the California Art Club from 1939 to 1941.
Note: The Whittier Art Association provided two memberβs competitive exhibits each year. There would be a Jury of Selection, made up of three local artists, and a Jury of Awards, made up of three professional artists, most of whom had previously exhibited at the Whittier Art Gallery. When the judging was completed, the Art Association would provide a lovely dinner for three judges at the nearby Green Arbor Inn, one of Whittierβs finest dinner houses.
